The Comox Valley Airport received an award on June 11 in recognition of achieving success in the provincial government 10 by 10 Challenge - a program dedicated to increasing employment of persons with disabilities by 10 per cent by 2010. Gay Bruner, job developer for Triumph, presented a plaque and bouquet of flowers to airport acting Chief Executive Officer, Ian Heselgrave. A recent successful placement of one of Bruner's clients prompted her to recommend the Comox Valley Airport for this special award. "Ian and his team have been truly amazing," Bruner says. "They gave my client an opportunity to prove his abilities, demonstrate his enthusiasm and supported him strongly to achieve his employment goal. My client has successfully passed his probationary period and remains a valuable, contributing member of their team." Clients work one-on-one with vocational coaches to identify their employment goals and develop plans to achieve them. "Triumph enthusiastically champions the cause of many workers and sets about to carefully match individuals to employers and jobs," says Heselgrave. "They really understand the skills of their clients and are great advocates for breaking down barriers and misconceptions in the workplace. "Working with Triumph has been very positive for the Comox Valley Airport because Triumph has made us a better employer and found us a great operations staff member."
