Canadian Airport Council issues report on Canada’s Air Connectivity and Competitiveness
Today the Canadian Airports Council (CAC) released a report on Canada’s Air Connectivity and Competitiveness, requesting “more active engagement by the federal government” to preserve Canada’s overall competitiveness.The CAC has been examining the issues that will affect air recovery in Canada, including increased costs to travellers and reduced connectivity.
COVID-19 travel restrictions have already led to Canadian airport losses of 5.5 billion in revenue. A comprehensive recovery plan for the air sector must be made a priority for economic recovery. The sector currently accounts for 256,000 jobs, and 23.4 billion in direct Gross Domestic Product. (GDP).
